The 2nd annual Erie Canal Firecracker 500 Regatta is coming off a first year success and looking to expand in 2010 !   This unique event features 2 boat, 500 meter sprint racing.  Each entry launched once,  competed in 4 - 500 meter races over 80 minutes.  Each event has a bracket format to determine the champion and 4 runner positions finishing with 3-1 records.  Awards presented for Champion (4-0), 4 runners-up (3-1) and the “Bucket” award for the entry finishing 0-4!


The Venue: Erie Canal, just east of the bisecting Genesee River, launchng from the Genesee Waterways Center, on Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY ...Google Map it!

As part of the 22nd Annual Head of the Genesee Regatta the racing will expand to 3 days October 9th, Masters and Open racing, October 10th High School head racing, sweep and sculls, October 16th College race day along with the Corporate Challenge! Visit Regatta Central and go to the "NEWS" page for info on racing over the two October race days or contact Tim Giarrusso at 585-737-0069 for more information regarding the regatta or the Corporate Challenge. 

Directions to the Head of the Genesee:
From the East or West,  take Rte 90 to exit 46, take 390 north toward the Airport. Take the Scottsville Rd exit and make a left on to Scottsville Road.  Stay to the right until you are on Elmwood Ave - Make a right into the Genesee Waterways Center and park trailers in the baseball field - DO NOT go over the river -'cause that's too far !
